In its investigation into the death of a 38-year-old man whose car collided with a house on Cherry Street in Millcreek Township early on Sunday morning, the Erie County Coroner’s Office is awaiting the results of toxicology tests. On Tuesday, Erie resident Robert Corbett was named as the victim by Coroner Lyell Cook.
Cook stated that Corbett had burns in the collision, and after an autopsy on Monday afternoon, he declared the death to be accidental. However, he is still awaiting toxicological testing to determine the cause of death. The collision occurred near Cherry Street and West Gore Road on Sunday at approximately 2:20 a.m., and Corbett was declared dead at the scene.
According to investigators, Corbett was traveling south on Cherry Street in what was thought to be a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander when the car crossed the intersection and collided with a residence at 5002 Cherry Street on the south side of the intersection. And then the home caught fire. Despite being inside the house, the homeowners and a dog were unharmed. As part of their continuing investigation into the collision, Millcreek police accident investigators announced on Monday that they were searching the area for CCTV footage.
